Introducing Harford
We have taken a step in a new direction, launching a collection of luxurious, tufted rugs and runners; all made in the UK using British wool.
The Story
From the company’s earliest conception our founders designed tufted rugs. Their original sketches and development work adorn the walls of our design studio. These designs have served as a reminder to us to re-visit these ideas once we were certain we could do them justice.
Anything is possible with a tufted rug, lines can move without restraint and colours are almost endless; our challenge in developing new designs has been making compositions that are beautiful, refined and distinctive. Contrasting textures are created by cleverly combining cut and loop pile. Individual tufting techniques and varying pile heights reflect height in different ways, subtly changing colour to create pattern and texture.
In Harford we have been inspired by the opportunity to re-imagine our signature stripes using these new dimensions of texture; experimenting with pile and loop to create pattern. It is a joy seeing our heritage colour palette react so differently in its new form.
Harford is a geometric border design, an elegant cut and loop texture that echoes our defining Roger Oates style. With parallels to the pattern repeat of seamed flatweave, the Harford stripes multiply to create larger rugs.
The Yarn
We have worked closely with specialist spinners and dyers to create a new fine rug yarn using our signature British wool blend. This yarn allows our classic Roger Oates colour palette to shine in the loop and cut pile, giving the surface a distinctive look. Each Harford uses a single colour of yarn, the tonal effect is created by the difference in texture.
Harford rugs and runners are all finished by hand by our team in Devon and backed using a combination of recycled and natural materials.

Airforce | A classic, sophisticated mid-azure blue
Old Rose | A soft and playful blushing pink
Mist | A modern, warm neutral greige
Catkin | A fresh spring green with enlivening yellow undertones
French Grey | A timelessly stylish, majestic mid-grey
Prussian | An intense deep blue

Runner | 73cm wide x 240cm long
Small Rug | 140cm x 210cm
Medium Rug | 165cm wide x 240cm long
Large Rug | 195cm wide x 290cm long
