Natures Palette, Inspired by the natural landscape
Inspired by the colours and natural beauty of the landscapes from where our wool is grown, the New Classics collection is a tribute to the stories and surroundings behind this groundbreaking flatweave collection.
In this article, we dive a little deeper behind the scenes – exploring the designs, inspiration, and find out more directly from the farms and growers who dedicate their lives to wool.
The Beginning of a New Story…
Dedicating over three decades to working with wool, this was a phrase that we often heard from the wool industry. Hearing this, the decision was made to work with Woolkeepers – a transparent and assured community of wool growers, whose sourcing of wool sees everyone benefit within the supply chain, and farmers paid a fairer price. The New Classics collection is the beginning of a new story for our flatweave and hand tufted process, made using entirely 100% British, traceable wool, sourced directly through the Woolkeepers.
‘The value of British wool has been so low that something needs to change’
Growing a Better Future…
A platform that works with fairness and transparency, Woolkeepers source their 100% British wool from their assured community of growers. From across the British Isles, the practices and approach of these farms take on a holistic and considered approach – working with nature, not against it, whilst ensuring handling and stress is kept at the bare minimum for the flocks. These factors mean that the land, the sheep and the farms all benefit, producing a better quality of wool and preserving nature and everything else within it.
Colours Inspired by Natures Palette…
Creating a collection inspired by the natural landscapes of the British Isles and the stories behind where our wool comes from, New Classics explores nature’s palette, where familiar tones and narratives are woven into each design. From earth rich tones, warm stone hues to soft sky blue and refreshing greens, each design is a reflection of our surroundings and makes a considered choice for those wanting their homes to reflect the calm, serene palette found in nature.
‘I have farmed for thirty-eight years, and the family have been farming in the area for four hundred years. I am proud that I will be able to pass the farm onto the next generation and continue the tradition.’
Connecting our Homes with Nature…
For homes that tell stories and explore the subtle tones and textures that are found in our natural surroundings, whilst exploring the story of where our materials come from, the unique quality of the collection provides inspiration in abundance. The connection between nature and our homes is present everyday and although it may go unseen, it is an incredibly important connection that grounds the home and those within it. Experiences like the soft, grounding sensation of wool underfoot, or transforming a space with natural hues can be more impactful than we realise and help connect us to the outside world.
From Farm to Flatweave…
Providing a consciously chosen addition to the home, the New Classics collection also celebrates the importance of our British production and why investing in a premium material like wool is a considered and smart choice for our interiors. The wool used in each design can be traced from farms that ensure not only the best quality wool, but see the value in their surroundings – landscapes are nurtured and wildlife is encouraged and preserved, and where, in the future, wool can help reverse climate change.
‘People often ask where their food comes from or where their household goods are made so it should be just as important to them to know where their cloths are made.’
David, Woolkeepers Farmer.
