Stripes, both free and structured, defy convention as we play with form, perspective, and strong geometry. With subtle hints to seminal design features and inspiration from our archives, the signature of Roger Oates is still to be found.
A preservation of our past and study in our future.
Revisionist echoes original artwork, designs and sketches dating back to the 1980s, that sit in our archives and hang on the walls of our Herefordshire Farmhouse. These sketches have not just inspired us, they have evolved into a collection where individual designs pay an expressive tribute to our history. With this deep connection to our past, artistic memoirs are reimagined into sentimental, nuanced design for 21st Century living.

We had become familiar with a painting of the original design, which hangs in the farmhouse adjacent to our head office and workshop, where its wide angles and bold earthy colour palette commands attention.
Originally titled ‘Irregular Perspective’, Bauhaus remains strikingly like it’s first incarnation (seen in an original transparency below). We chose to replicate a very similar colourway, using abstract blocks of grey, blue, and black.

A design of strong architectural colours with a simplicity of line and proportion
The inspiration for Rhodes came from paintings and film negatives we found in our archives dating back to 1988. Originally named Cloister, it is noted in handwriting on the back of one of the images as a design of “strong architectural colours with a simplicity of line and proportion”.
Its timeless design felt instantly relevant in today’s collection, and so we experimented with a new colour palette and additional shades around the border to create a three-dimensional ladder effect. With the general structure remaining unchanged, it proves the enduring appeal of this design.
Our Hand Tufted collections see the story of Roger Oates shift into a new narrative. Refining our technique and developing a creative, collaborative platform for our clients, our bespoke tufted rugs offer an immersive experience in exciting and experimental textures.
