The New Classics Collection
New Classics is a traceable collection using 100% British Wool exclusively sourced through The Woolk...
The Vista collection was created first by looking at shape and pattern. Our design team referenced the easy-to-miss patterns of the everyday, looking at shapes and forms occurring in nature and our surroundings. You may have a sense of familiarity when looking at the Vista designs, and this is no coincidence – with evocative influences from elements like dappled light, sandy beaches and lakes as well as our contoured and undulating landscape itself. These patterns and shapes have been deconstructed and translated into a dynamic hand-tufted rug collection.
One of the early stages of designing involves, painting, sketching and photography. This physical process helps to solidify an idea and bring it to life before working with the technicalities of the design where form, pattern and colour can be more easily and quickly manipulated.
There is a deliberate lean towards soft neutral tones in the Vista collection. Although we are known lovers of colour, we exercised restraint with the palette of this collection – instead opting for subtle shades that highlight the intricacies of the surface pattern.
The reflection of light plays a huge role in the appearance of colour when it comes to hand tufted rugs. Different tufting techniques and pile heights force light to bounce off the surface differently, making colours appear brighter or darker as a result. Look closely at Wake to discover that this rug is made using a single colour. Contrasting hand-tufted techniques are sheared to reveal a pattern of wave-like shifts in tone.
We like to use the play of light to our advantage – integrating pattern and colour changes into the design through texture.
The clever use of subtle tones throughout the collection allows the Vista collection to integrate easily into interior schemes. The softer palette highlights the importance of shape and texture, using perfectly balanced colour to allow the intricacies of the rugs to sing.
The use of colour gradients, and soft transitions creates movement and shifts perspective and brings texture in abundance to any room. Choose to pick up on the stripes of Atlas, matching fabrics, accessories or artwork to one or more of the multicolour ribbons. Or opt for understated drama, using the Dune rug as a focal point to bring definition and structure to an open hallway. The strong geometry of Summit adds interest to a scheme without dominating the room, why not unify a seating area with the Summit rug as a focal point.
The sculpted pile found throughout the collection bring a playful aspect to the designs. Rugs and runners don’t always have to act as a backdrop in a room, and should instead be used as an opportunity to inject personality into a space.
Our hand tufted rugs are available as finished ‘ready-to-buy’ designs that are available in a number of sizes and shapes, as standard rectangular rugs and runners as well as round or oval rugs.
As with all of our hand tufted rugs, each piece can be tailored to any specification to create something truly special and unique to your project. Our design-team work with you to create a personalised design, whether that be a minor colour or size change to a completely original design.
You can use the rugs in our collection as a starting point, in fact a number of the rugs in the Vista collection have been designed with personalisation in mind. Look to Wake, Tide, Terrain and Summit, all of which contain fewer colours. We have developed a series of colour blend groups that makes it easy to choose an entirely new palette which perfectly fits your interior scheme.
