Embracing a visual language that is both sculptural and architectural, London-based designer and artist, Simone Brewster explores “intimate architectures,” and the relationship that texture and three-dimensional form have on memory and emotion.
An artist, designer, educator & cultural change maker – Simone Brewster opens her second iteration of PLATFORM at the Design Museum in London in February 2026. With four immersive sections, her work reveals how material, memory and emotion can be translated into form.
Brewster challenges the concepts of what is beautiful and valuable and uncovers rich narratives in the everyday and gives voice to identity, heritage and memory.
Recompose
Curated for PLATFORM at the Design Museum, Simone has worked on a hand tufted display piece, in collaboration with Roger Oates Design. Inspired by her creative practice the ‘Recompose’ rug is displayed in the gallery space and represents one of her own collages repurposed in a new form.

Behind the Design
Centred around fluidity, Simone’s body of work explores scale materiality and architectural form. Her work marries influences of “ethnic” and the “western”, bridging the gap between these two histories. The ‘Recompose’ rug uses a cut pile tufting technique to showcase the bold fluidity of the design and colours, bringing a new energy and tactility to a repurposed design.
